Comic-Con International 2014 - San Diego

We spent almost all day Saturday in downtown San Diego enjoying the sights and sounds of this year's Comic-Con.  We didn't have tickets to get inside the San Diego Convention Center, but it didn't matter.  Every year there is more and more to see and do in the surrounding area.

The best part of Comic-Con is always the people in costume.

Luckily both Heather and my friend Mitch were with me to explain just who some of these "people" are.  There were a few I just didn't get.

Every time I see this next one I get a bit disoriented.

In addition to watching all the people, there are lots of things to do.  Mitch and I got to shoot pizzas from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pizza cannon tank, while Mary and Heather got their hair braided.  We all got our heads chopped off by the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow, and got chased by Godzilla.  Mary, Heather and Mitch all got Hello Kitty tattoos.  I didn't, mostly because I could not find a big enough patch of hairless skin.

These nice ladies were kind enough to give me a Hello Kitty headband, however.

Even Klingons like to take a break for lunch with the family.

The Sharknado people were out there promoting Sharknado 2 - The Second One, which premiers in a few day.

There were a lot of people out there.  Mostly they were getting along just fine, with a few exceptions.

Two Hippos

I managed to catch both Otis and Funani, the male and female Hippos at the San Diego Zoo, in the same shot the other day.

Tasmanian Devil

I finally got a shot that I liked of one of the Tasmanian Devils at the San Diego Zoo.

Now that I see him up close like this, he doesn't look anything like Taz, the Tasmanian Devil from the old Warner Bros. cartoons.
