Funani the Hippo
This is Funani, the female Hippo at the San Diego Zoo. She has not been moving around much the last few times I've seen her; I'm told she is just about due to give birth.
Honey Badger
There is a Honey Badger, otherwise known as a Ratel, at the new Africa Rocks exhibit at the San Diego Zoo. She's hard to spot, and apparently spends a lot of time on hot days in a burrow under ground. She popped out for just a few minutes the day I was there, and she's covered in dirt in these pictures.
It's the Fossas . . . and the Lemurs
The new Africa Rocks exhibit at the San Diego has a Fossa and her four young children on display . . . right across the path from the new Lemur habitat.
That might explain the look of this Ringtail Lemur.
They were definitely keeping watch for something.
Fossas are carnivorous mammals that live in Madagascar and eat, among other things, Lemurs.
