What used to be a 60-acre reservoir area to control water for rice cultivation at Magnolia Plantation is now the Audubon Swamp Garden. The area is a maze of boardwalks, bridges and dikes. We spent some time here late in the afternoon after the wedding.
Much of the water was completely covered with duckweed.
There is an amazing variety of plant and animal life here, and lots of well-placed signs to explain it all.

Ha! I like the composition of the heron facts with the heron in the background. Even though I am fairly certain that is a Great Blue Heron in the background it is still cool. :-)
