Saturday at The San Diego Zoo

Here are a few from last Saturday at the San Diego Zoo.  I actually spent some time with some of the other animals, not just the tigers.

Here's an Allen's Swamp Monkey to start things off.

Phyllis conveniently moved into a sunlit spot a few minutes after we showed up.

I did spend several hours at the Malayan Tigers, but they weren't doing much at all.  These flowers are right next to the information sign at the tiger enclosure.

I would normally try not to include a fence like this, but she was practically over my head in the new cat walk tunnel, and it was too good to pass up.

This heron was looking for pretty good reflected in the pond.

I was packed up and ready to head home at 3:00pm when I realized just how nice a day it was, and decided to just hang out until closing at 5:00pm.  The Lions always put on a good show late in the day, and once we change the clocks next weekend it will be a while before we get that opportunity again.  I only got one shot, and then went to check on the Jaguar cub.

The new Jaguar cub, Valerio, was lounging around outside while his mother hung out in the den behind the big viewing window.  The little guy is not so little any more.  He'll be a year old in a few days.

One of Heather's cousins has a cat who, when he meets someone new, will roll onto his back and try to trick them into thinking he wants his belly rubbed.  It's a trap.  I suspect that would be the same thing here.

I'm pretty sure that the squirrels are not part of the official Zoo collection, but they sure do have a lot of them.  People get really excited to see them too.
