I've spent a lot of time at the San Diego Zoo over the last few weeks. Here are some images from Sunday, June 30.
Danai, the almost-20-year-old female Malayan Tiger was out in the morning.
I seem to spend most of my time with the tigers, but the other big cats are fun to watch too. The Amur Leopards are not as active as they were when they were cubs (see some of my earlier blog posts from about a year ago), but they're still great to watch.
Around 11:30 the keeper came by and tossed a fairly large cow femur bone across the pond to Danai. She seemed to really enjoy her mid-morning snack.
Later in the day, after Danai went in for the afternoon, Conner came out.
These next shots may look a bit strange, all that fuzzy green stuff in the foreground is a bunch of out-of-focus fern plants that are right in front of the railing overlooking the pond. They're just out of reach, so I can't pull them out of the way, or push my lens past them. Here's Conner, wading around in the pond.
