Early Evening With Tiga The Tiger

I was able to get out of work a little early on Wednesday, July 3, and the afternoon sunlight was nicely diffused by a layer of high clouds, so I decided it would be the perfect time to spend the early part of the evening with Tiga, one of the female Malayan Tigers at the San Diego Zoo.

Not long after I arrived a duck landed in the pond. It didn't take Tiga long to notice. She practically flew down there, but in the end she didn't feel like getting her feet wet, and the duck just paddled around like there was no danger at all.

She did keep a close watch on it, however.

Even when they look relaxed, the tigers still manage to keep track of everything that is going on around them.

As it was getting dark in the canyon, she came down close, almost too close really for the long lens I was using.
