Fishing Cat

I learned recently that February is Fishing Cat Awareness Month.  I was not aware of that.  I spent a few hours at the San Diego Zoo this afternoon, and managed to get a shot of the Fishing Cat.

Mission San Juan Capistrano

I spent a few hours wandering around the Mission at San Juan Capistrano on Saturday.  The Mission was founded on November 1, 1776.

A Few Hours With Connor The Tiger

I spent a few hours of President's Day with Connor, the older Malayan Tiger at the San Diego Zoo.

I think this next pictures shows a really good example of how their natural camouflage works.

Valentine's Day With The Tigers

It was really nice outside on Sunday in San Diego, so I spent the morning (and part of the afternoon) with Berani and Cinta, the now-two-years-old Malayan Tiger brothers at the San Diego Zoo.

Their keeper had put out a special Valentine's Day present for them. Berani seemed to really enjoy it.

They were taking turns keeping an eye on their older brother Connor.

Here are a couple images of Cinta.

And, for anyone who might be wondering, I did not ignore Heather on Valentine's Day.  We had a very nice dinner at the sushi bar at the Fish Market Restaurant on San Diego Bay.  I even got her a present, a pair of earrings I found in the gift shop at the Zoo.  They were little hand painted tigers.  It seemed appropriate.

Scroll down a bit to see a little more about that heart-shaped treat.

Malayan Tigers, Allen's Swamp Monkeys and Spot Nosed Guenon

Here are few recent pictures from the San Diego Zoo.

There is a brand new baby Allen's Swamp Monkey at the San Diego Zoo.

Here's a Spot Nosed Guenon.

Of course, I spent most of my time with the Malayan Tigers.  They don't always pose for my pictures.

The keeper had sprayed some cinnamon on this log.  They seemed to really enjoy playing with it.

Later, they were running up and down the hill watching their brother Connor in the neighboring enclosure. Occasionally they would chase each other around instead.

Here's Cinta coming down the hill to see what Berani and Connor are up to.

I guess they're technically not twins, but in this next shot they remind me of the old Double-Mint commercials.

Here's Berani relaxing on the edge of the cliff in the late afternoon.

(Yes, I realize that last portrait would have looked a lot better if he wasn't drooling, but I don't Photo-Shop, and it's not like I could just hand him a tissue either.)

Happy Valentine's Day, and a Public Service Announcement

Think of this as a Public Service Announcement.

If you decide to get that special vampire in your life a heart-shaped bloodsicle for Valentine's Day, be careful where you put it . . .

. . . because you just never know when the neighborhood cat is going to show up.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

You Think You Know Someone . . .

. . . and then this happens.  It gives a whole new meaning to the term "incriminating glance".

I guess that whole thing about a wife not incriminating her husband is just on TV.

Happy New Year 2016 - Year of the Monkey

Happy Year of the Monkey.

For anyone who might be wondering, this is an Alan's Swamp Monkey, from the San Diego Zoo.
