San Diego Museum of Art - Balboa Park

The San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park is always a fun place to spend a few hours. Here are a few shots from this past Sunday afternoon.

I'm not quite sure what this next one, the headless person sitting at a desk, is all about. All I do know is that it's part of a temporary exhibit, and this is sitting in one of the permanent galleries. I also found out - right after I took this shot - that I was not supposed to take pictures of it.

Sticking with the headless theme, this is part of the permanent collection.

There is a particularly good special exhibition going on right now called The Invention of Glory, featuring the Pastrana Tapestries, which were woven in Flanders for King Alfonso V of Portugal in 1470. They are pretty amazing to see, and will only be there until September 9, 2012. If you are in San Diego they are worth the trip to the Museum of Art to see them. No photography is allowed in the exhibit, so all I got was a shot of the sign at the entrance.
