National Bison Range - Montana

We stopped to see the National Bison Range on our drive from Glacier National Park back to Missoula, Montana last week.  The Range was founded in 1908 with 40 American Bison.  The herd now numbers between 350-500.

There is a 20-mile or so graded dirt road that winds through the Range.  The views are great.

We were there late in the day, and there were some dark clouds rolling in.

Emerald Monitor - More of the Big Green Lizard

A while back I posted a picture I got at the San Diego Zoo, but at the time I didn't know what kind of lizard it was, so I just called it a "Big Green Lizard".  Today I paid a little more attention to the signage - this is an Emerald Monitor, native to the Island of New Guinea.

Temecula Valley Vineyards

We spent a few hours wandering around the vineyards in the Temecula Valley wine country area (about 50 miles north of San Diego) on Saturday.  For the most part it was cold and gray, with off-and-on rain, but that was fine with us.  Usually it is in the 90's out there this time of year.  Here are a few pictures.

This wall of wine bottles in the tasting room at Avensole was cool.

Nikki the Cat Goes Wine Tasting in Temecula

This is Nikki, and apparently she likes to go wine tasting with her family from San Diego.  We met her today in Temecula, at the Avensole Winery.

If that look is any indication, this particular white wine may not have been her favorite.

When we first saw Nikki walking into the tasting room, Heather suggested I should get a picture so that we could show it to Aldo, saying something about how we would never get him to agree to do this.
