Eagle Gold Mine Tour - Julian, California

Back in early November we did the tour of the Eagle Gold Mine in Julian, California.  It was both a lot of fun and informative.

You enter the side of the mountain at the Eagle Mine, which was started in 1870.

Our guide, sitting at the Underground Foreman's desk.  Right after I took this he turned off all the lights so we could see how dark it gets that far underground.  It was dark.

After walking for quite a ways, and climbing up a steep ladder, you exit through the High Peak Mine on the other side of the mountain.

On our way back to San Diego we stopped off in Santa Ysabel to check out the recently restored General Store, and then it was across the street to the Julian Pie Company's main bakery for a slice of apple-mountainberry pie and coffee.
