Lone Pine Road Trip - Day 1 - May 8, 2019

We took off for a short 3-night road trip to Lone Pine, California in early May.  Our first stop was Fossil Falls.  There are no fossils and no flowing waterfalls at Fossil Falls, just a really cool volcanic landscape to wander around.

We stopped briefly to check out the remains of some charcoal kilns and other interesting sights on the edge of Owens Lake.

We checked into our favorite motel in Lone Pine, the Dow Villa Motel, had an early dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant, the Merry-Go-Round, and then wandered out into the Alabama Hills to watch the sunset.

Note: For some reason lately the images on this blog have looked somewhat soft and mushy, which I think has something to do with the blog software.  They look a lot better in full screen view at the gallery website linked above.
